League of Women Voters' members, Mike Brady and Pam Brady set up a library display case on "Precycling..deciding what you are going to do with the packaging before you buy the product". Simple changes, shown in the display, can make it possible for you to recycle much more and throw away much less, thereby saving natural resources.
Tuesday, August 3, 2010	7am-8pm	All voting precincts in the city.	State Primary Election. This is the primary election when you will be voting for governor, represenetatives in congress in the 8th, 9th, 11th, and 12th districts, state senators in the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 26th districts and representatives in several districts across the state, as well as almost all Oakland County commissioners, and judges of the probate and district courts.

We are further exploring the MSU Land Policy Institute study on new paradyms for Michigan to get out of the economic slump it is in. Open to the public if there is room. Thursday, August 5, 2010	6:30-8pm	Troy Community Center Room 305 3179 Livernois Troy MI 48083	Sustainable Residential Landscapes. The LWV TA Natural Resources chair cordially invites you to join her in this informative workshop to get tips to help grean your landscape in an environmental way. It is free and open to the public. Tours of the AloeTerra House (an off the grid structure built by Lawrence Tech University Students and purchased by the Troy Chamber of Commerce to be housed on Troy Property and designed to be a teaching tool) on the grounds of the Troy Civic Center will be offering tours at 5:45pm and 8pm. Monday, August 9, 2010	8pm	Rochester Hills Public Library 500 Old Town Road Rochester, MI	Library study session. LWV TA library study members will visit the Rochester Hills, MI library to see a board of trustees meeting in session and learn how a dedicated funds library works for another community.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010	2pm	Leave from Ida's house	Library study session. This will include a road trip to the Rochester HIlls Public Library to meet with director and board of trustee member.
Monday, August 16, 2010	9:30am	Home of Ida.	library study. Tour the Rochester Hills library and speak to the RH Library Director and a Trustee (invited and tentative).
Monday, August 16, 2010	9:30am	Home of Ida	added New Economy session. This will probably be the last of the study sessions of the New Economy proposed by the MSU Land Policy Institute. It is as yet to be determined if we will take any action on it.
Monday, August 16, 2010	1 pm	Home of Ida	library study session. This will be a continuing study of the Troy Libary funding situation. It is tentative that we will meet on this day and time. Call Karen at 248.828.3470 for more information. The public is invited if the hostess has room.
Monday, September 20, 2010	noon	First Baptist Church of Birmingham, 300 Willits, Birmingham, MI 48009. (North side of Maple Road just west of Woodward Avenue. Parking is just east of the church.	League of Women Voters of Troy Area Fall Luncheon. DAM THOSE FISH Are Asian Carp a Threat to the Great Lakes? Speaker from the Lake Michigan Inter-League Organization. 12 noon Lunch, 1 pm Speaker Open to the public. Please come and bring your friends. Thursday, September 30, 2010	6pm	Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church hall	LWV TA Annual Kick Off Dinner and Speaker. Dinner meeting to kick off the new season for the League. Guests and prospective members and interested parties are welcome. Dinner is pizza, salad, dessert, and beverage and the cost is $10 per person. Special speaker is Rhonda Hendrickson, President of Friends of the Troy Public Library, who will give us an update. Dinner at 6pm with Speaker at 6:45pm. Tuesday, October 19, 2010	7-8:45pm	Royal Oak Library	Recycling 201. This is for people who already know how to recycle. We get more indepth knowledge and discover or reaffirm why it is important and what choices we can make to become more savvy about keeping our natural resources safe. Tuesday, November 2, 2010	7am-8pm	All voting precincts in Troy.	General Election. This is the General Election for our state. We will be voting for various offices.
